Why UV-C and Negative Ions are beneficial

Research has found (Scientific Report) that UV-C degrades the genetic material of Viruses and Bacteria's DNA so severely, microbes or viruses hit by the rays can’t multiply and it renders them unable to reproduce.
UV light is divided into UV-A, UV-B and UV-C wavelength ranges. UV-C light is part of the sun's radiation, but cannot enter thru the earth atmosphere. UV-C light emitted is considered safe to use.
The reason is that far-UV-C light has a range in biological materials of less than a few micro-meters, and thus it cannot reach living human cells in the skin or eyes, being absorbed in the skin stratum corneum or the ocular tear layer. But because viruses (and bacteria) are extremely small, far-UV-C light can still penetrate and disable them, by damaging their DNA structure, thus far-UV-C light has about the same highly effective germicidal properties of UV light, but without the associated human health risks.

The pandemic has made UV-C light disinfection popular, with hospitals and even the New York City subway system buying into the technology.
